Lets Bring Smile To Street Children

Education is our birth right echoed the volunteers of I Love My City….


I Love My City (ILMC) organized an event at a school called ‘Paathshala’ in the slum area near Old Faridabad Railway Station. The Paathshala is an endeavor by the young boys, Sanjeev, Vinay, Prince and Ankit.


A group of friends Vinay, Sanjeev, Prince & Ankur started this school last year. They were quite moved when they witnessed small children begging at the railway station and came up the illiterate of teaching these children. Slowly the word spread and more children joined in. Now the school has more than 50 children and has even hired two full time teachers. Vinay said that it gave him immense pleasure to see these children studying enthusiastically; there are few bright kids among these children who have learned to do four digit multiplication sums.


I Love My City Organized a small play called ‘Nukad Natak’ in their Pathshala based on the theme “Padhai hi aisi shidi hai jo garibi sai nikal sakti hai” (Education is the only way out of poverty and misery).  It was performed by the Volunteers of ILMC, it was the story of a young boy (Kallu) who wanted study but his mother forced him to polish shoes on the streets and how she realizes the importance of education and that educating her child is not an expense but an investment. The volunteers were Deepak Tyagi, Pradeep Sammi, Manbir Kaur, Amarjeet Bains, Gurpreet, and Angad.


The Founder of ILMC Mr. P P Singh also spoke about the importance of keeping small family and ensuring that their children should be nurtured and sent to school to have a secure future. He also invited two people, Keval (a vegetable seller) and Sumitra (a house maid) to the event. He referred to them as the real life heroes of the society as they worked very hard every day so that their children can go to a good school. Keval also spoke to the people about the importance of education, he said, “We are poor because our thinking is poor, if we educate our children they will grow up to become respectful officers, when our we progress the society will progress and will the country progress”.


Daughter of maid who is studying in class 6th has very clear thoughts that she wanted to become a teacher and not let her mother to work as a house maid.


At the event ILMC distributed school bags, books and stationery to all the children of the pathshala, Mrs. Manbir Kaur, CEO of ILMC said that the motive of this event was to convey the importance of education to the parents and bringing smile to the students of patshala.


Also present key office bearer of ILMC, Mr.VK Bhanot- Secretary, Mr. Ashok Ratra, Mr. Kulwant Singh, Om Prakash, Mr.Naveet Gumber, Rajat & Sonia Luthra, Harmeet Arora and Ashish Kaul.
